Ljung says that drivers generally invest upwards of half a million SEK before the season. Money that is then run in during the year - but when all leagues are stationary no one can bring in money.

- We have no a-cash and things like that. We lie really badly for everyone. For us who live on this it is like a lull, says Ljung.

Like many other sports, speedway associations are dependent on their income. Driving without crowds would not have been an option.

- If we had started and run without an audience, we would not have managed more than one round. We had not been there since, says Vetlanda coach Mikael Wirebrand.
