Stina Nilsson sent out a bomb in the ski world when she decided to change sports from cross-country to biathlon.

- This was much bigger than I might have thought, but it has been received with very positive response. It has been great fun and it feels like there are a lot of people who want to follow my journey, says Stina Nilsson to SVT Sport.

The 26-year-old, who is one of Sweden's biggest long-distance stars with, among other things, Olympic gold in sprint 2018 and double World Cup gold in Seefeld last year (relay and sprint relay). She has a total of seven World Cup medals and five Olympic medals on the track record. In the 2018/2019 season, she won the sprint cup and thus became the first female cross country skier to win a title in the world cup.

She is now looking forward to her new career.

- There's so much I can't do. I love that there are details I can grind on. I love when I get interested on a manic level which I have become now, I think it is fun. Biathlon is so much a small thing, says Stina Nilsson.

How did you arrive at the decision?

- I got my gun license a few weeks ago. "I can't just think it looks fun on TV, I have to test and see if this is something for me," so it grew, and it was a long process. I called one by one that I wanted to tell you about this, but I couldn't call everyone before it (the news) came out.

What are your goals?

- It's very early. I love short-term goals, it motivates me. My goal right now is to be faster on and off the dike, so right now I only work on a few things.

World Cup?

- Well, absolutely, that's the end goal. Hopefully I will have a good development curve, but I know it can take time, and time I have a lot of feeling.
