The International Olympic Committee and Japan announced in a joint statement today, the postponement of the Summer Olympics which was scheduled in Tokyo this year, against the backdrop of the outbreak of the new Corona virus.
The two parties stated in a joint statement: In the current circumstances and based on the information provided by the World Health Organization today, the President of the International Olympic Committee (German Thomas Bach) and the Japanese Prime Minister (Shinzo Abe) concluded that the thirty-second Olympics in Tokyo should be postponed until after 2020, but not far from the summer of 2021, to protect the health of athletes and all those involved in the Olympic Games and the international community.
