After the NHL paused the season because of the corona virus, the league asked its players to stay home to avoid getting infected. Then, according to TSN, some of the league's biggest stars have teamed up on social media to come up with a good suggestion to end the season later than usual. And it's not just a month later than some players suggest, but a scenario where the Stanley Cup is awarded as late as the end of September instead of the beginning of June.

- It is something that the players' union can get to know, and they hope they can present a proposal like this to the NHL. And I hear that the NHL is ready to consider all the proposals right now, says Frank Seravalli in TSN's broadcast.

Had benefited the owners

And the proposal is something that may be in the interests of NHL teams. When there had been a game break in October, which is one of the worst months when it comes to crowds in the US.

- An owner I talked to had a similar idea. His point is that October is a month when several NHL teams, especially in the southern United States, do not want many home games then. So it's a perfect time, according to him, in a tough situation not to play matches, and he has shared that idea with NHL boss Gary Bettman, says TSN's Pierre Lebrun.

- I have to say though. There is no proposal that is better than anything else right now, it is too early, says Lebrun.
