She is one of the world's best female football players, but since January she has not played football. At the end of that month, Ada Hegerberg, aged 24, woke up with a swollen knee and it was found that she had damaged the cross band.

Since then it has been silent from the Norwegian star.

Wanted to escape to Hawaii

The message came as a shock to her and she shut herself up to get time to recover. Now Hegerberg shares with TV2 Norway about the time after the injury.

- The first thing I thought when I found out that it was the cross band was: "But God, I don't want anyone to know anything. Do you think we can go to Hawaii and stay there? Then we say nothing to anyone, "she tells the channel.

"Been extremely vulnerable"

In early February, she underwent an operation and began her journey back to the football field. It was the first time she was operated on and that experience affected her.

- Everything was just so new. I felt like a little girl, so vulnerable. And I have been too, I have been extremely vulnerable, says Hegerberg.

With the help of two physiotherapists, who will be with her, during the entire process, she looks ahead - well aware of what her biggest challenge will be.

- Being outside the team is really the biggest challenge. You feel that something is being removed from you, that you are forced to be outside and that you stand alone, says Hegerberg.

If all goes well, she has the intention of being fully back on the plan in September.
