The English Football Federation (FA) and the Football League (EFL) announced on Friday that Premier League matches were suspended until April 3 inclusive, as well as the England team’s international matches, due to the coronavirus. This measure concerns the two national team meetings scheduled for March 27 against Italy and March 31 against Denmark. It also applies to all other professional male and female matches.
"This decision was made only because of the number of cases requiring confinement and their impact on infrastructure. Due to the measures taken in several clubs, there was no alternative to the measure taken today, "says the FA.

England follows the path taken by Italy, Spain and most recently France, while the German Bundesliga will leave the day of this weekend to dispute behind closed doors, before taking a decision early next week .
In separate press releases, the Premier League stresses, however, that a resumption on April 4 remains subject to "medical advice and the situation at the time." For the moment in any case, it is only a suspension and not a cancellation, ensures the FA.

"All the parties concerned are engaged to try to complete the program of domestic competitions and are in contact to find the right solutions for this purpose," she explains.
