No miracle for Spurs. Tottenham sank on the lawn of Leipzig on Tuesday March 10 in the knockout stages of the Champions League. Already a winner in the first leg in London (0-1), the German club easily disposed of José Mourinho's men to qualify for the quarter-finals.

In the RB Arena, the atmosphere of the great evenings was there. And for good reason, this Champions League match is the only one of the week to be played in front of supporters due to the epidemic of coronavirus, which forces all other matches in camera

Sabitzer strikes twice

Defeated at home 1 to 0 and reduced by multiple injuries, the Spurs start this match with fear in the stomach: an obligation of result which makes Tottenham and his defense feverish. And Leibzig is quick to take advantage of the spaces left by the English players. Mukiele punctures to the right then centers back to Werner. The German sees his strike repelled by the defense of Spurs. But captain Marcel Sabitzer recovers and tries his luck at the 16 meters. Hugo Lloris can do nothing (10th, 1-0).

Tottenham then tries to react, thanks in particular to its former Parisians: the lateral Serge Aurier addresses a good center that Lucas Moura fails to take back. But in defense, Upamecano watches. And on the cons, Angelino overflows left side and center at ground level for Werner who sends him to the bottom. Tottenham's defense is absent. Fortunately for the Londoners, the goal was refused for offside (19th).

Simple repetition for the continuation. On a sumptuous opening, Klosterman finds Angelino. Sabitzer takes the center of the head and Hugo Lloris has a too soft glove. VAR confirms that the ball has indeed crossed the line (22nd, 2-0).

The Spurs seem stunned and have trouble reacting. At the forefront of the attack, Dele Alli is very lonely. Tottenham relies on individual exploits like this Lo Celso drift to have its vis-à-vis. But Gulacsi goes to bed well and repels the stroke wound by the former Parisian. (42nd).

Upon returning from the locker room, José Mourinho's men found some colors and managed to press the Germans much higher. The speed of Lamela and Dele Alli caused concern for the defense of Leipzig. But the latter is well grouped and repels the assaults one by one. And when there is a fault, like this overflow of Lucas Moura who manages to center for Dele Alli, the Englishman gets confused when he takes his shot (74th).

Opposite, the Germans are content to manage and play against. Young Timo Werner, 24, is untenable on his left side. It also ends up being at the origin of the action which brings about the third goal. At the end of a confusion of the Spurs defense, Forsberg, just entered the game in place of Sabitzer, scores on his first ball (87th). RB Leipzig can celebrate. It holds the first quarter-final of the Champions League in its history.

In the other match of the evening, Atalanta Bergamo went to beat Valencia on their own ground in a match rich in goals (3-4). Already a big winner in the first leg (4-1), the Italians are therefore also qualified for the quarter-finals.
