The former player of FC Barcelona and the Brazilian national team, Ronaldinho Gaucho , is adapting "quickly " to life in the Paraguayan jail where he has been detained for several days, the head of the facility told Reuters.
"He is doing very well," Blas Vera explained. "He is in a good mood, as you see on television. Always smiling ."
Ronaldinho and his brother Roberto were arrested on Friday for using a fake Paraguayan passport. His lawyer, Sergio Queiroz , said they had asked the court to put them under house arrest and offered guarantees that they did not pose a risk of escape.
According to Vera, the former soccer player and his brother have beds, a television and a fan in the jail cell , which is located on the outskirts of the country's capital, Asunción. They use a community bathroom and have the right to go out to the patio on a regular basis. Of course, they have not eaten food from prison, since their lawyers have provided them with food.
There are 195 detainees in the facility, including politicians and police officers accused of corruption, as well as the main drug traffickers in Paraguay. The most dangerous prisoners are in a different wing than Ronaldinho's.
