Danish authorities recommend that all events with more than 1,000 spectators be canceled. As a result, the Danish Ice Hockey Association now announces after a crisis meeting that the playoffs - which would have begun on Friday - are being halted for further.

"We are in a very tough situation, which has put Danish ice hockey in a deep and serious crisis," says Klaus B. Rasmusson, chairman of the Danish in the league association.

Even in Norway, where the playoffs would start on Friday, hockey games are suspended until further notice.

"Conducting an NM playoffs without an audience is not desirable, neither for clubs nor associations," writes the Norwegian Ice Hockey Association in a press release.
