The Iraqi soccer crisis is close to détente after the Qatari capital, Doha, hosted a meeting held by the International Football Association (FIFA) with some sports figures in Iraq to choose the temporary committee that will administer the federation after the resignation of the elected board of directors.

Doha drew a new road map for Iraqi football after the meeting called by FIFA, where a committee formed by the International and Asian Federations met with 13 Iraqi sports figures.

This, and the FIFA Committee deliberated the formation of an interim body that will work for a period of six months to run the competitions and entitlements of Iraqi teams, amend the statute and increase the general body in preparation for the holding of new elections.

Information from inside the meeting confirms that FIFA will review what happened in the Doha meeting and listen to the opinion of the committee before the date of announcing the names of the interim authority, which is expected to be issued no later than 15 March.

The International Federation obligated the members of the temporary body not to run for the upcoming elections and to have their work for a certain period, which has prompted many personalities to refrain from working in them because they want to run in the elections.

Presidential candidates
The former police club chief, Iyad Bunyan, is the favorite to head the interim committee, with competition from former Iraqi soccer star Ahmed Radi and Asian expert Shamil Kamel, as the commission will consist of a president along with four other members who will be chosen for this task.

Iyad Bunyan told Al Jazeera Net that the work of the interim committee will not be easy, but the task is very difficult and arduous, noting that the FIFA Committee has abundant information about Iraqi football, and you will not find it difficult to name the personalities who will take over.

Bunyan added, "All those who attended were from the football family, and everyone deserves the chairmanship of the interim committee whose primary goal is to lay down the true pillars of Iraqi football after years of failure and confusion."

For his part, the president in charge of the Iraqi Football Affairs Department, Ahmed Abbas, told Al-Jazeera Net that "the meeting was very fruitful and all things became at the table of the International Federation, and everyone knows that the task is very difficult and difficult, as the interim committee awaits many tasks."

The information indicates that the first decision it will take is to lift the punishment for former Iraqi soccer star Adnan Darjal, who was taken by the resigned federation by denying him administrative work for five years.

The Iraqi Federation was forced to submit the collective resignation after the complaint filed by Adnan Daraal against the President of the Federation Abdul Khaleq Masoud and his deputy Ali Jabbar on charges of falsifying the internal system, where a decision was issued by the Iraqi judiciary to arrest them, which led them to make a settlement with the men who led to the submission of the collective resignation .
