The Guinean Football Association revealed on its official account, yesterday, the death of nine players and the injury of 18 members of the coastal club "Etoile de Guinea" club, one of the clubs of the second division of football in the country, after the bus that was carrying the team to a traffic accident in the city of Wakaria.

The Guinean federation said in a statement, published by the Spanish newspaper "AS": "While the team was traveling to Cancan to face its counterpart Carvamoria in the second degree league in Guinea, the bus suffered a terrible accident due to a brake failure and the driver lost control."

The statement added that "among the players who died is the star of the team, Elmi Keita, who is the brother of Liverpool midfielder Nabi Keita."

The newspaper published the names of the nine players and pictures of them before their death, and attached them with a picture of the bus after the incident that shook the African and international sports community, at a time when a state of amazement spread social networking sites that circulated the news with great sadness.
