The women's A-World Cup would have been played in Halifax, Canada, between March 31 and April 10.

That tournament today decided to suspend the International Hockey Association after the organization's board held an extra session.

At the meeting was the Swedish ice hockey association chairman Anders Larsson.

- What emerged at this meeting was that responsible authorities in Canada recommended the Canadian Ice Hockey Association not to conduct the World Cup because of the corona virus. So they wanted to postpone it until next year. It was stated at the meeting that it is not possible to implement, he tells SVT Sport.

Sweden cannot go up

This also means that the B-World Championships in French Angers, where the women's crowns would have played, will be canceled.

- If the overlying group is not played, it means that no team can leave or leave our (Swedish team's) group. In sport, it has no significance. This has the consequence that we who had the ambition in Swedish hockey to sharpen our teeth and revamp us do not get that chance. Ylva Martinsen (the league captain) and the team have charged to go there and go up to the A-group.

Anders Larsson goes on to say that no decision has yet been made about the men's World Cup, which is being played in Switzerland.
