Unfortunately, the epidemic of new crown pneumonia has become a major concern for all of us. This is undoubtedly the main topic of discussions in the IOC Executive Committee over the past two days.

Based on the results of our many or ongoing consultations with the WHO, the 2020 Tokyo Olympics Organizing Committee, the Tokyo Metropolitan Government, the Japanese Government, and governments around the world, especially China, I can assure you that the International Olympic Committee We will fully support the opening and successful hosting of the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games on July 24. These regular consultations will continue so that we can always respond to any new developments.

Of course, we are well aware that this has brought challenges to the current selection of Olympic qualifications, and athletes, as well as national (regional) Olympic Committees and international individual sports federations, need to maintain great flexibility.
