Henrik Lundqvist has been a clear goal keeper throughout his senior career, for the past 15-16 years, first in Frölunda and then in the New York Rangers.

However, that changed overnight when Russian rookie Igor Shestjiorkin was called out by the farmer team at the turn of the year.

Since then, the 38-year-old has only started in five games.

- It's a lot to adapt to, which has been tougher than I thought, says Lundqvist about the new everyday life for SVT Sport.

As late as Sunday, he got the chance at home against Philadelphia in Madison Square Garden. It ended with a heavy evening, five dropped in and loss.

Should discuss the future

Tonight he is once again fit for the bench when Washington visits New York. Instead, Alexandar Georgiev gets the chance.

- You are here to play. That is why you are in the process. When you are not playing, you analyze more. It will be difficult to disconnect it, although this is when you may want to disconnect it. You spend a good deal of time thinking about. You have to believe it.

Do you?

- Sometimes. The situation has changed tremendously. It's been tough. I should not knit it under a chair.

After this season, Lundqvist has one year left on his eight-year contract. He says he and the New York Rangers organization will sit down this summer and discuss "how to take the next step".
