The infection has spread widely in northern Italy and caused a total of ten Serie A matches to be canceled. Now, according to Reuters, local authorities state that the heavyweight meeting in Coppa Italia will have a new game date.

Sporting events have been banned in the Italian regions of Lombardy, Veneto and Emilia-Romagna, although meetings of the Italian High Court are permitted to be held in front of empty stands.

In the region of Piedmont, where Turin is located, there is so far no ban - but the state official Claudio Palomba has told the La Gazzetta dello Sport newspaper that the city has still made the decision to cancel Juventus meeting with Milan.

The decision was made after the local enforcement agency announced that 27 people in Italy had died of the virus just the past 24 hours. A total of 79 people have lost their lives and the number of infected persons in the country is said to have passed 2,500.
