In a big surprise, the fourth-seeded Sarprikin team qualified for the German Cup semi-finals after defeating the first division rival Fortuna Dusseldorf on penalties, thanks to the brilliance of its goalkeeper Daniel Patts who tackled five penalties.

After the original and extra time ended in a 1-1 tie, the two teams ruled over the penalty shootout in which Bates dazzled everyone with his dexterity, to lead his submerged team to a 7-6 victory and cross to the semi-finals.
