Too many hammer blows and almost a decade out of the water. The sanction of the CAS fell for Sun Yang: the 28-year-old swimmer will be suspended eight years for having evaded a urine test in September 2018 and having seen fit to have blood samples destroyed by members of his entourage (hammer , therefore).
Sun Yang, known in France as the "purple peeing" swimmer, is thus deprived of the Tokyo Olympic Games next summer. He can still appeal to the Swiss Federal Court. First Chinese crowned Olympic swimming champion in men (London-2012, 400 and 1500 m), Sun Yang risked two to eight years of suspension. He had already been suspended for three months for a positive control of a stimulant (trimetazidine) in 2014.
