Waleed Al Hosani, CEO of the League of Professionals League, confirmed that there are several proposals currently being studied to enhance the participation of Emirati clubs in the AFC Champions League, and motivate them to achieve the required results, to maintain the Arab Gulf League classification.

The classification of the Arab Gulf Football League was one place in the statistics issued by the AFC from the current ranking, by its ninth place, due to the poor results of the clubs in the continental championship.

According to the AFC-based league ranking, 90% of the points are awarded in light of the results of the clubs in the Champions League, and only 10% of the results of the national teams.

Walid Al Hosani told Emirates Today: “The Association is currently studying several proposals to support Asian clubs, and among those proposals that are still under study is the allocation of financial incentives for clubs to help them achieve the results that restore the Arab Gulf League its previous position as a leader in arranging the best leagues in Asia. ».

He added: «So far, we have not finished studying the proposals in all their aspects, and things are still under study and once the conceptualization of the proposals is laid, it will be presented to the association’s board of directors after its formation in the elections that will be held on the ninth of next March».

He explained: «The association may agree to a proposal to support the Emirati clubs participating in Asia and may reject it, and this is a matter for the new council, but we must submit proposals and results of the special study on any proposal related to local competitions and what relates to local clubs, and then the final decision of the association’s board of directors remains after that ».

On the way in which the clubs will be financially supported and will they be at the expense of allocations related to the rest of the other clubs, Walid al-Hosani explained: “As I said before, the conception has not yet been finalized, but it is only a proposal that did not rise to the point of implementation to talk about the benefit of clubs without the other, there are meetings Certainly it will be conducted with the clubs in this regard, but I repeat and repeat that part specifically that it is still a proposal and we do not want anyone to consider it as a decision until after it is approved by the new board of directors of the League.

The CEO of the League of Professionals urged the four clubs participating in the AFC Champions League not to lose a single point, even if one of them had lost his chances of qualifying for the second round.

He said: "Every point we will get will boost our Asian League rankings, and we hope that all our clubs will put this accountability in their championship accounts."

And the four clubs participating in the continental championship got only five points out of a total of 24 points, after two rounds of the group stage passed, after the unit tied at home with Al-Ahly of Saudi Arabia, and won away from home, the Iraqi police, and Sharjah got one point from the draw with Peruzzi, and the loss From Saudi cooperation,
