The former Confederation of African Football Confederation (CAF), Egyptian Amr Fahmy, died today Sunday after a long struggle with cancer at the age of 37.

Fahmy assumed the post of Secretary General of El Kef before he was dismissed from his post after accusing Ahmed Ahmed of the Federation of corruption.

Fahmy joined the CAF as Assistant Director of the International Championships Department between 2007 and 2010, also worked as an assistant coordinator for the World Youth Championship in Turkey 2013, as he was appointed general manager of the African Championships for locals from 2011 to 2014, and later as director of the 2013 and 2015 African Nations Cup championships and also worked as an assistant Curator for the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympics.
