Skånelaget LB07 went down last year in the Elitettan but chose to retire, and now starts in Division 4. Kungsbacka went down in the Elitettan, considered withdrawing, and currently has only one contracted player.

Even Assi from Kalix has withdrawn from the Elite, and now ends up in Division 2. The law has small expenses for player salaries, but it is still not enough when sponsors and crowds fail.

- You need to look at organization, commercial value locally, how competition looks at the resort in relation to other sports. You need to look at how you raise your business and the visibility of the profiles you have in your association, says Tomas Hoszek, general secretary of Elite football, to SVT Sport.

Geographically dispersed

The market economy basic rule is that the associations are responsible for their own finances. But the series system comes from the top: The elite is the country's second highest series, yet spread throughout Sweden, with long journeys.

- This has been investigated before. What they came up with was that the best thing for the Elite is to have a straight series, and we work for that. With a common and straight series, we see better prospects of commercializing and marketing the series, says Tomas Hoszek.

Håkan Sjöstrand, secretary general of the Swedish Football Association, says that the association supports various projects but also says that the union can not do so much more for the elite.

- Over the last three years we have invested SEK 6 million in a project called "World Class" where the focus is the environments in which we develop players 15-19 years. We also inject SEK 1.5 million into a project called "Semi-professional football". Dr are such things that we as a federation can support, says Sjöstrand and continues:

- There is a challenge in conducting operations at the elite level where the associations have to deal with their conditions, opportunities but also their limitations. It is important in this context.
