Josep Guardiola is not going to leave Manchester City, despite the two-year exclusion for European football. The coach said so after the 2-0 win at West Ham United in the Premier League on Wednesday.
"If the club does not dismiss me, then I will also be the trainer here next season. 100 percent sure", Guardiola guaranteed against Sky Sports .
"I would like to continue this because this club is very special. I said it before and now say it again: I will stay with this club and hope to maintain the high level for as long as possible," said the former FC coach Barcelona and Bayern Munich.
City was punished by UEFA on Friday for violating the Financial Fair Play rules. The club cannot play European for two years and has to pay a fine of 30 million euros.
Guardiola: 'We'll just play the Champions League next season'
The English club has already announced that they will appeal to sports tribunal CAS. "It's not over yet," the Spanish manager emphasized. "The club considers the punishment unfair and that's why we appeal."
It is not yet known when the CAS will handle the appeal. "We can only wait. In the meantime, we are focusing on the final months of the season," said Guardiola, who and his team are second in the Premier League and play against Real Madrid in the eighth finals of the Champions League.
"I fully trust club management. We will compete in court, as we always do in the field. We remain optimistic. Ultimately, the truth will prevail and then we will play in the Champions League again next season."
