Shiro Mabuchi, director of Meitoku Gijuku High School in Kochi, has been appointed as the new coach of the Japan national team under the age of 18 in baseball.

Mabuchi is 64 years old from Ehime prefecture. He was appointed director of Meitoku Gijuku in 1990, and has participated in Koshien 33 times in spring and summer.

In Koshien, he has won 51 victories, ranking in fourth place as a director, and in 2002, led to the first championship in national high school baseball in summer.
