Sports agent Maria Shashina reported details of the hospitalization of the Russian figure skater Adeline Sotnikova. She confirmed the information that the athlete had surgery, and assured that nothing threatened her life.

Adeline is really hospitalized now, she underwent a very serious operation and a long way of rehabilitation and recovery awaits her. Nothing threatens her life, and she feels satisfactory, ”Shashina wrote on her Instagram page.
In addition, she asked the media to understand the position of the Sochi 2014 Olympic champion and noted that at the moment this is the only information she can provide.
“We ask you not to disturb the staff of the medical institution on issues related to hospitalization and not to distract them from the main task - to do everything possible so that our Adeline in the shortest possible time can again go on the ice and do what she loves - to please the audience and fans with her skating,” added Shashin.
The information that Sotnikova was in the hospital excited her fans in earnest. First, photos appeared in a number of media outlets in which the skater had a protective collar on her neck, and then it became known that she was in the first neurosurgical department of the City Clinical Hospital No. 67 named after L.A. Vorokhobova.
Adeline’s officials declined to comment on what happened, and acquaintances only noted that they had not seen her for a long time. As for recent photos on social networks, they were taken long before hospitalization.
It turned out that Sotnikova was in the hospital for several days. According to the coach Elena Buyanova, she underwent a planned operation, but nothing is known about the true causes of the surgery. At the same time, one of the Telegram channels reported that the skater’s diagnosis was degenerative stenosis of the cervical spine, which explains the presence of a bandage.
According to the orthopedic traumatologist Konstantin Ternovoy, who had undergone treatment earlier, a similar diagnosis could be triggered even by a minor injury received in her youth. In such cases, surgery is necessary, as the disease can lead to weaning of the limbs.
