NBA commissioner Adam Silver told a press conference that the award for the Most Valuable Player (MVP) during the All Star Match, where the season's best player meets, will be named after Kobe Bryant.

- We thought about how we best honor Kobe (Bryant). One of the things that stands out about him, besides his five championship titles, is that he has been in 18 teams and holds the record for MVP's, Adam Silver said at a press conference night to Sunday Swedish time, ESPN writes.

The prize will continue to bear Kobe Bryant's name and will be awarded for the first time at the All Star Match, which will be played on Sunday, local time.
