Kiki Bertens has withdrawn from the WTA tournament in Dubai on Sunday and therefore does not play against Kim Clijsters, who returns to the top international tennis after more than seven years in the emirate.
The Dubai WTA tournament no longer fits Bertens' schedule, as she will be in the final of the Russian St. Petersburg WTA tournament on Sunday. In the final battle, in which the Wateringse defends her title, she meets the Kazakh Elena Rybakina.
The Dubai WTA tournament starts on Monday and lasts until Saturday. Bertens was linked via draw to Clijsters, who is taking part in a tournament in top international tennis for the first time since 2012.
