Yevgeny Ustjugov was one of four Russian riders accused of doping at the end of 2018. The others were Svetlana Sleptsova, Aleksander Chernyshev and Aleksander Petjenkin. The latter two were closed in June 2019.

Ustjugov - who has taken several medals in the Olympics and the World Cup - was released.

But IBU (International Biathlon Association), started a new investigation with the help of analysis about samples collected in 2013 - and now the verdict has come: Both Ustjugov and Sleptsova are dropped.

- I've competed a lot against Sleptsova and her results were very much up and down. It was suspicious and now we see the result of it, says SVT biathlon expert Helena Ekholm.

Ustjugov's all results in the World Cup from August 2013 to the end of the 13/14 season including the 2014 Olympic gold are deleted.

"Good that he gets stuck"

- It is really sad when such doping cases are discovered. He has taken some medals at championships before. It is good that he gets stuck even though it has been a very long time. It is sad that you have to hand out medals afterwards, but that is the reality right now, says biathlete Sebastian Samuelsson to SVT Sport.

Svetlana Sleptsova's earnings during the same period (from March 22) are also deleted.

Athletes can appeal their verdicts to the Sports Arbitration Court, Cas.
