Already on January 26, HV secured the victory in the basic series. Since then, the focus has been on another milestone - to erase Luleå's record of 96 points from the 2016-2017 season.

Now HV can also tick off that point on the list.

The big win away to Gothenburg means that the Jönköpings team landed at 99 points in 36 matches. In addition, HV71 set a new record with the most goals (170) during a basic series, according to the club's website.

The best scorer in the historic match in the Angered arena was HV duo Michelle Löwenhielm and Sanni Hakala with two hits each.

The points queen Kennedy Marchment also entered the goal record with her 7-1 goal in the third period. Thus, the Canadian stays at 64 points in 36 matches in the basic series, only beaten by Brynäs Lara Stalder (71 points).

HV71 won the basic series by an 18-point margin down to Luleå and another seven down to Brynäs.

The quarterfinals game begins on Wednesday.
