It was in the match against Winnipeg on Friday that Karlsson broke his thumb, and now needs surgery. That means he now misses the rest of the season.
The club writes on its website that he will be back in time for their training camp ahead of the season in September.
The injury comes just over a week after he opened for the World Cup with three crowns this spring.
