Rögle had the last direct playoff spot before the away game against HV71 - and has it left afterwards. Three minutes into the second period laid the foundation for tonight's victory.

- That's how we want to play. We play out of situations, win our duels and are mostly in the offensive zone, Nils Höglander tells C More.

In the seventh minute Samuel Johannesson made a nice move and got a shot on goal that was saved. On the return, Dominik Bokk was good and could beat 2-0 to the guests from Ängelholm.

A minute later, the HV71 pulled on an expulsion. And in powerplay came 3-0 through Daniel Zaar. Kodie Curran and Leon Bristedt got an assist to the goal, which meant that Rögle's three best point pickers this season were involved in the goal.

Got new energy

After 3-0 it looked tough for HV71. Rögle was by far the strongest team in the first period and carried with them 1-0, but HV71 was the team that started the second period best.

But two minutes later, the reduction came to 3-1 through Linus Sandin. A goal that gave the home team new energy and which kept them in the match. And in the final minute of the second period, 3-2 also came through the Juuso Icon.

- It was important that we got a quick goal. We got a lot of energy after that, says Linus Sandin after the second period.

Managed to keep away

But closer than ever, the home team never came. In the middle of the third period, Rögle made 4-2 through Mattias Sjögren. HV71 took out the goalkeeper early in the final stage and in the open box Kodie Curran could make 5-2.

Before the game was over, Rögle had an expulsion and Simon Önerud polished the figures to 5-3 in powerplay.

With the victory, Rögle rises to a fifth place in the table while HV71 remains in seventh place.
