The Swedish Week is held every year at different locations in Sweden, winter and summer, and is open to RF members, 72 special sports associations, which represent up to 250 different sports.

- With the SM Week, we want to unite and gather the sports movement during an event and it will be very exciting to follow Skövde's work. The SM Week not only highlights the diversity of the sports movement, but is an event where cities, the hospitality industry, sports and TV audiences meet and provide as many values as just tourist economic effects such as increased cooperation within the municipality, with business and sports movement, says Stefan Bergh, general secretary of the Swedish Sports Federation and SISU Sports Educators.

"Good with multi-arenas"

This is the first time that the SM week is being held in Skövde. And the second time the SM-week winter is arranged in southern Sweden.

- Skövde is a sports city with several clubs competing at the national level and with several committed associations that have experience in organizing major competitions. Skövde also has good multi-arenas for sports, both outdoors and indoors, which perfectly match the concept of the Swedish Week, says Per Bergljung, event manager for the Swedish Week at the Swedish Sports Federation.

- Skövde has the conditions to arrange the most compact SM week so far. It is only a little over three kilometers from the center up to the top of Billingen, where skiing and other branches are decided and just below the mountain lies Arena Skövde, a modern multi-arena where many sports can be decided. I am convinced that it will be a very good winter week, says Ulf Nilsson, SVT's project manager for the SM week.

Cross country skiing main sport

The main sport for the winter week in Skövde is cross-country skiing. Other sports that are interested in participating in the SM week apply to participate and on this basis RF, SVT together with the host city decide which sports will be the program for the SM week. Participating sports are presented about a year before implementation.

The exact date for the SM week in Skövde has not been decided yet.
