The last 24 hours after the 6.17 jump in Torun, Poland, has been staggering for Duplantis.

- It's just crazy. I've wanted this since I was a kid, since I learned to walk, he says.

At Skavsta he was praised by the athletics association with flowers. A number of journalists and photographers gathered in the Arrivals Hall and asked questions about what will now be the next target for the 20-year-old.

- I can beat the world record (again), I think I can jump higher. I do not know how much higher. But right now I'm happy to have the record, says Duplantis.

"Mom has supported me all the way"

The fact that mother Helena, who also trains her son, was on the stand in Poland has meant a lot.

- That was unbelievable. My dad is not here and may experience this with us but I am glad my mom was there. She has been there every day since I started jumping, she has supported me all the way. It's nice to be able to share this with her, she has been with me all the time.

Have you seen the record jump?

- Yes, I've seen it a few times. It was a good hope. There are always things that can be better.

Avicii's song "Levels" was played when you jumped, why?

- The main reason it was played was that it was the song that Renaud (Lavillenie) had when he hit the record (he jumped 6.16 six years ago, ed. Note). But it's also just a good song, why wouldn't you want to skip it?

Isaksson believes in new record highs

Kjell Isaksson, 71, set a world record in pole vault in the 1970s and is a role model for Duplantis. Isaksson believes that the "heir" can jump another ten centimeters higher.

- I agree with "big man Kjell". If he says so, it might be true.

On Saturday, a new competition awaits in Glasgow. But most of all he has other plans.

- I'll hang out with my cousin and cook dinner.
