At the Olympic and Paralympic Games Olympic Village facilities, the Village Plaza, which is being constructed using timber provided by local governments nationwide, has been released to the press.

“Village Plaza” is an exchange facility where the athletes can meet with family and other outsiders in the Tokyo Olympic and Paralympic Athlete Village, which is being developed in Harumi, Chuo-ku.

The building is made of wood provided by 63 local governments nationwide. On the 29th, the press was released to the press, showing how the wood was engraved with localities such as prefectures and municipalities.

The building will be divided into five buildings, and there will be cafes, banks, general stores, etc. Of these, the space for the cafe will be made of cypress in Okayama Prefecture and cedar in Miyazaki Prefecture, and will combine three woods. It features a pillar design.

According to the Organizing Committee, approximately 40,000 pieces of timber are used for construction, and after the Games, each local government will use it as a legacy.

The building is scheduled to be completed by April, and will be undergoing maintenance for the opening of the Olympic Village on July 14th.
