Eusebio Unzué has always been clear: first there is the Tour and then everything else. This has always been the case, also in recent years despite the difficult cohabitation of Nairo Quintana and Mikel Landa . Without them in the team, the Movistar Team will continue to pursue their obsession by putting all the meat on the grill in the French test. His three leaders this season, Alejandro Valverde, Marc Soler and Enric Mas , will share squad in the next Tour.

The reverse of such an unimportant bet is that none of them will run the Giro d'Italia. And it will be so despite the fact that Movistar defends the crown achieved last year with Richard Carapaz , who will seek to revalidate the victory, now in the ranks of the Ineos. The telephone set, in short, will present a 'eight' of second level in the Italian test. It is not yet clear who will attend, but none seems capable of reaching even the 'top 10' of the test.

Looking ahead to the Tour, Movistar has confirmed in the Rafa Nadal Academy of Mallorca that Valverde and Soler will take the exit. The case of Mas is a mystery, since it has not revealed its calendar beyond the Tour. The Balearic has never run two great laps in the same year, which is why Movistar may want to be cautious about the possibility that this year will double Tour-Vuelta.

For the rest, the three leaders will share the rest of the bulky spring calendar. The three, however, will debut this weekend in the Challenge of Mallorca , although none will dispute the four days of competition of the test with which the Spanish and European calendar traditionally starts.

Valverde will run Murcia, Valencia and the Emirates in preparation for its main objectives of the first part of the calendar : Strade Bianche, Catalonia, perhaps Flanders and the Triptych of the Ardennes. More commitment to Andalusia, Paris-Nice and the Basque Country and escort Murcia to the Ardennes. Soler , meanwhile, plans to compete in Valencia, Andalusia, Strade Bianche, Tyrrhenian-Adriatic and Catalonia. As for the preparation of the Tour, the Catalan will do it in Switzerland and the Balearic in Dauphiné, while Valverde could opt for Occitania or accompany one of his two companions. In addition, both Murcia and Soler have in mind to attend the Tokyo Olympics.
