Sweden's largest Olympic gold jump makes its annual debut today in Luxembourg where she competes in the Euro Meet during the weekend.

She starts in five branches in three days and comes to the competition directly from a training camp in South Africa.

- Sure I'm a little tired, but at a good level. I feel ready physically and mentally, says the 26-year-old.

She hopes to be able to swim quickly, but more importantly, the technology is right.

- It would be nice to get out of here with fast times, but above all I will look at technical details such as the number of armrests, how far I get on each armrest and if the turn is better in the butterfly, she says.

The plan for gold form

Sjöström took an Olympic medal of each denomination with the gold at the favorite distance 100 meters butterfly as a highlight in Rio de Janeiro 2016.

When the Tokyo Olympics starts July 24, Sjöström will be in his best form in his career.

Among other things, by screwing up the competition the closer the Olympics she will be.

After the start in Luxembourg, February will be a training month. In March she swims a competition in Marseille, in April the home competition Swim Open awaits in Stockholm. Then the European Championships in Budapest will be on the program in May and in June there will be three competitions, the Mare Nostrum series in Monaco and Canet and Sette Colli in Rome at the end of June.

- So the plan is now. It feels very good to have it ready so early and it's a good spread of the competitions, she says.

Developing years

Since Rio, Sjöström has dominated big in the swimming world. Last year she wrote history and became the first woman of all time to take five individual medals in one and the same World Cup, one gold, two silver and two bronze.

Since 50 meters of butterfly is not an Olympic branch, she has four potential medal branches in Tokyo, 100 meters of butterfly and 50, 100 and 200 meters freely.

Another highlight last year was that Sarah Sjöström became the best swimmer in the new ISL series where she led her team Energy Standard to victory.

- It was a good year, I still maintain a high level. I got an incredibly good job done at the training, there were five medals in the World Cup and it was cool that we started ISL.

- It was very new, both to swim so many branches at the World Cup and so ISL. It's evolving. It will help me become even better in 2020, ”she says.
