Cross-country skier Johan Häggström is what you might describe as a "late bloomer". He took his first podium places in the Dresden World Cup a few weeks ago as a 27-year-old.

- I've tried to melt them a little bit, but you still can't really imagine them, says Johan Häggström.

Near to lay off

Häggström was never a star in his youth or during his junior season, he has always struggled on the side.

Have there been times when you have given up on giving up the dream?

- Of course, there have been times when you have hesitated and thought about what to do with the future, especially now in recent years when you have gotten a little older, but I am glad I continued, says Johan Häggström.

Back in Oberstorf

This weekend there are competitions in German Oberstorf, they will be the first competitions after the success in Dresden. Johan has uploaded at home to his parents in Lilla Lappträsk outside Kalix and in his student apartment in Umeå.

- On Saturday they are skiathlon and then I will spend my time trying to keep up and make a good ending. On Sunday it is sprint and I want to at least join in the war in a semi-final.
