The Monte Carlo rally is the first competition of the year and last year's World Cup second Thierry Neuville has a lead of 19.1 after tonight's two ahead of Sébastien Ogier who debuted in Toyota tonight. Reigning world champion Ott Tänak who switched to Hyundai for the season is in third place 25.1 seconds after Neuville.

Neuville was fourth in total after the first lap but then struck with a cannon performance on lane two, the rally's longest special lane with its 25.49 kilometers. Neuville was 25.5 seconds faster than its nearest competitor.

Tomorrow, six stretches will be waiting during the Friday stage.

Oliver Solberg, who does not run for World Cup points during the Monte Carlo premiere, has not finished the second leg of the evening at the time of writing. But Solberg, who is only making his second WRC start and running for the first time in Monte Carlo, certainly made it through stretch one with eighth time in total, all classes included.
