French team in mourning after snowmobile accident

Fabien Claude's father went through the ice in a snowmobile accident in Canada on Wednesday. The message reached the French biathlon team in Pokljuka, the day before the distance in the World Cup.

Nevertheless, the 25-year-old stood up and drove. Claude, who has never been better than fifth in the VC context, finished third with flawless shooting - only beaten by Johannes Bö and compatriot Martin Fourcade.

The course of his life

Fabien Claude passed the mixed zone after the race without talking to anyone other than French media. Fourcade spoke to SVT and was, for obvious reasons, emotional.

- It was difficult to stand on the starting line today. Such a day, sports means nothing. We are obviously fighting, but I wanted to be with my wife and daughter today, that was my only wish. But at the same time, this is my mission, I owe it to my team, ”Fourcade tells SVT Sport.

The veteran was also mightily impressed that Claude's tremendous performance during this difficult moment.

- It was emotional for the team, but when you look at the results list you see that we wanted to do it for them. Only one guy in the world can make a start in such circumstances, congratulations Fabian.
