Despite a European Championship with many disappointments, Sweden had to finish with a seven-goal victory against Iceland.

Kim Ekdahl du Rietz gets to sum up the championship when he meets SVT Sports reporter in the catacombs after the match.

- It turned out to be a little different than you had hoped and thought. The match against Portugal was really decided after a half and then the chances of semi were basically gone. It was probably not what we had hoped and thought before this tournament, says Ekdahl du Rietz to SVT Sport.

Sweden gets new union capitals

The championship was the national team captain Kristjan Andresson's last at the Swedish helm now the Norwegian, Glenn Solberg, will take over the role.

Many players showed gratitude to Andressons but the league captain himself took the leave with calm.

- I'm very happy for the victory. We will see how it feels later on but right now it is as always after a championship, it is a little emptiness that we are not going to Stockholm. But it also feels nice not to have to focus on clips or opponents tomorrow, says outgoing associate captain Kristjan Andresson to SVT Sport.

Soon the Olympic qualification awaits

In the next, in just over three months, the Olympic qualification for the Swedish national team awaits.

- It will be fun with a new start. We can throw this championship in the trash and in three months it will be the Olympic qualification and it will be very fun, says Ekdahl du Rietz.

The big-grown nine-meter player confirms, even after some speculation, that he will be in place when the national team gathers for the Olympic qualification.
