Mika Zibanejad played both Pavel Butjnevitj and Chris Kreider to the New York Rangers goal in derby against the New York Islanders. But it did'nt help. There was a loss anyway (2-4).

The game felt more or less settled as the Islanders extended their lead to 4-0 early in the third period after Brock Nelson's close-range shot from close range, behind Rangers goalkeeper Alexandar Georgiev. Better luck then for Islanders goalkeeper Thomas Greiss who stopped 40 shots.

Break the trend

This was a nice revenge for the Islanders who had lost three straight games, and when two of them were also against Rangers last week (2-6 and 2-3).

Rangers will now have nine days without a match.

- It would have been much nicer to leave with a win tonight, but I think these nine days will benefit, Zibanejad tells NHL.com.
