It was a pretty eventful match in Raleigh where the home team took the lead early through Sebastian Aho and Erik Gudbranson acknowledged Anaheim before the first period was over.

Aho then had an open position in the second period and hit the outside of the post.

After two speechless periods, the match went to the extension where the decision came after about one and a half minutes.

The Hurricanes went on strike but dropped the puck on the offensive blue line, whereupon the Ducks quickly switched and Silfverberg's guard struck a quick pass at depth that released Sam Steel.

"Anaheim was clearly better"

Steel, with the heel Jake Gardiner notched in the heel, made no mistake but flipped in the decisive goal.

- I was just trying to move my feet and create space. I knew that Silfverberg would reach me with the pass and then it was just trying to manage the situation. It worked well, says the victory shooter afterwards.

Carolinas coach and former great player Rod Brind'Amour:

- We started the match well, but then Anaheim took over. I think they were clearly the better team and we got to spend way too much time in our own zone.
