The Spanish driver Carlos Sainz (Mini) won his third Dakar on Friday while retaining his advantage over Qatari Nasser Al Attiyah (Toyota) and Frenchman Stéphane Peterhansel (Mini), who completed the podium in second and third position, respectively.

Sainz, who led the race from the third stage, was proclaimed winner of the toughest rally in the world for the third time in his career after those achieved in 2010 and 2018, and he did it again as the longest-running driver to achieve it, now with 57 years

The Madrid driver did not risk in the last 167 timed kilometers of the Dakar to ensure the victory, which must ratify with an exhibition route of 13 kilometers on the way to the finish podium.
