Wheelchair rugby representative from Japan wins gold medal at Tokyo Para 20:15 on January 16

The Japanese representative of the wheelchair rugby, who is expected to win a gold medal at the Tokyo Paralympic Games, has opened a training camp, and captain Torunobu Ike expressed his enthusiasm that he wants to grow to be a team worthy of the gold medal.

Japan, which won its first championship in the wheelchair rugby world championship, was expected to be the first gold medal in the Tokyo Paralympic Games which will open in August.

The top 16 players from the Japanese national team and others are continuing to adjust for the international competition to be held in March, and a training camp was opened in Tokyo on the 16th.

Wheelchair rugby players usually have to finish within 40 seconds, but on the 16th, the time limit was set to 15 seconds, and the players worked on practical battles with a focus on quick switching between offense and defense.

According to the Japan Wheelchair Rugby Federation, the Paralympic Games will be decided based on their achievements at international competitions in March and June.

Mr. Ike said, "We want to grow into a team worthy of a gold medal by all being aware and growing toward the Paralympics."

On the 16th, the official ambassador for wheelchair rugby, Toshiro Hirose, a former rugby representative from Japan, also visited the tour to encourage the players.
