Kovacs confirms - leaves for Örebro already

- I got to read about the decision in the Aftonbladet. Luleå said the idea was that I would have the decision told me after the match tonight, says Robin Kovacs to SVT Sport.

Aftonbladet revealed in the middle of the burning season that Robin Kovacs was planning for a different future than the one in Norrbotten with Luleå.

Today he confirms for SVT Sport that he is ready for Örebro for the rest of this season plus three new years. But that was not his intention from the start.

- I was going to play clearly this season. But then the information came out and it put me in a difficult seat. Still, I think it didn't affect my game and my performance on the ice. I am so serious about this profession and loyal to the team and the club that whatever the circumstances, everything is on the ice.

He has shown a high level during the season and has long been the team's leading player. At the time of writing, he also leads the team's internal points and 19 points. Paradoxically, he switched up immediately after the news of his Örebro contract came to the surface.

- Adversity has always made me better. Hatred gives me lighter fluid. I always think that I should show everyone that no matter what happens in life, I will come out the other side stronger.

But lately, he has felt that coach Tomas Berglund's confidence has broken. It does not stem from any conflict but they, players and leaders, have different views on how Kovacs should play to be able to contribute as much as possible to the team.

- I should say immediately that Bulan (Tomas Berglund) made me a better hockey player during these years. But we look at my performance differently. I think I made a good match but he sees something that he is not happy with.

What else did he want to see from you?

- He wants me to be tackled more and so it is about some defensive details.

During the year he received a lot of criticism from fans. What has been highlighted has been his lack of loyalty. Lack of respect for the club brand.

- It's important to take what's on the table. As a player you can't wait, because the offer may never come back. There are several players who are ready for other clubs but have not come out.

- Many people do not have an understanding of how it works with these pieces. Örebro heard from them early and offered a good contract. Luleå had not contacted me for an extension. I felt then that I wanted to be part of the journey that Örebro embarked on. Then it is closer to Stockholm which should not be knit under chair with. Celebrating Christmas and birthdays with my loved ones I have been longing for. I have hardly met my family in recent years with the US and New York (red note: he made a detour to the US before landing in Norrbotten).

Kovacs are today disappointed with how everything turned out. That he had to endure a lot of "shit" as he himself expresses it because the information leaked. At the same time, he understands how it works in the industry.

- I don't know how to handle this. It may be a matter for Swedish ice hockey to address. Maybe regulate that clubs may not contact players or sign agreements before certain dates. I do not really know.

The situation becomes even more complicated when his partner Minatsu Murase plays for Luleå's women's team today. Now the family situation becomes a task to solve.

- This is a difficult situation for all of us. I don't know today how to solve everything. We'll see.
