Rugby is a contact sport, but it has to be loyal. Apparently, this was not the case this Sunday for the Villeneuve-sur-Lot players. They decided to leave the field at half-time fearing for their physical integrity in front of the Nord Landes team.

According to the testimony of their coach, gathered by Sud Ouest, they fell into a real "ambush": "There were unacceptable gestures, provocations, blows received at the meeting points". A player from Landes also received a red card from the first half.

Radio silence on the Landes side

A player from RC Villeneuve XV was injured in the face at the level of the cheekbone. He spent his Sunday at the Bordeaux hospital to be sewn, reports France Bleu Gascogne. According to the vice-president of the club, the player will file a complaint for assault and battery.

For its part, Nord Landes refuses to comment after these incidents and awaits the decision of the Rugby League. A disciplinary committee must meet to decide on the follow-up.
