It was a Sweden that was already ready for advancement before the meeting against Poland, since Ljubomir Vranje's Slovenia defeated Switzerland 29-25 earlier on Tuesday.

Despite this, it was a spasmodic Sweden that was down 7-10 in the middle of the first half. Then the union captain Kristján Andrésson took time out and replaced the debutant Jack Thurin. Five straight Swedish goals with one from Thurin and it was the turn.

Revenge for the edge players

In the second half, the team was actually followed all the way until the host nation went up to 26-21 with 13 minutes left. By then most people in Scandinavium thought the thing was done, but the Poles came back and made a match of it. The victory figures were eventually written to 28–26.

The best goal was the trio edge players Daniel Pettersson and Jerry Tollbring together with Jim Gottfridsson, Andreas Nilsson and Kim Ekdahl Du Rietz. all were listed for five goals.

For the edge players it was a revenge as they went aimless in the loss match against Slovenia.

Sweden is ready for the main round and will now face Iceland, Norway Portugal and either Denmark or Hungary in the main round, which starts on Thursday.
