Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan is keen to commemorate the eighth anniversary of the death of Turkish football legend Yefter Kokikandunidis. He also congratulated his country, women's volleyball, for qualifying for the 2020 Summer Olympics in the Japanese capital, Tokyo.

Erdogan tweeted via his official account on Twitter in memory of the former player who the president described as "the wonderful player and the legendary name of Turkish football and Fenerbahce club, which passed eight years ago."

Kokikandonidis starred in the World Cup in 1954 in Switzerland, and scored two goals for the Turkish team, and was the first Turkish player to professional outside his country, where he played in the ranks of Italian Fiorentina and French Ness, where he was considered one of the world football stars at the time.

The funny thing is that the Turkish star still holds a world record as the owner of the longest family name in the history of the World Cup tournaments.

On the other hand, Erdogan congratulated his country for the women's volleyball team, and published a tweet in which he said, "I congratulate our country for women's volleyball team for qualifying in the final European continental qualifiers after defeating the German team."
