Zaafarana Ahmed Al Hosani revealed the story of a 30-year struggle, standing behind her title “Mother of Determination”, whom she cherishes and is proud of. Through sport, they were able to overcome their disability, as Hamda suffers from a mental disability, while Mary was born with Down syndrome.

She assured "Emirates Today" that "disability did not undermine her resolve, but rather turned her into a challenge in her life that made her volunteer as well to work in the Zayed Foundation for People of Determination."

Zaafarana is the mother of seven girls and four children, and she managed to live with Mary and Hamda's disability, and she turned it into an incentive to succeed in their lives.

She said, “The two girls found their way into the sport, which was a bridge for them to adapt to society and achieve success in their lives.” She continued: “I discovered that sport changed their lives for the better, as they practiced running and bowling, and then moved to competition in the local and external championships, and Hamda specialized In the 100 and 200 meters running races, she won 17 gold medals, along with silver and bronze medals. As for Mary, she succeeded at the bowling level in winning five golds, three silvers, and three bronzes.

The two sisters represented the UAE in many international and regional competitions, among them the “International Games - Abu Dhabi 2019 for the Special Olympics”, and before that she held several tournaments since 2008 until today.

Zafarana said that she was “keen to provide support and encouragement to all girls of determination, which made her commit to volunteering at the Zayed Foundation,” and pointed out that the title of “mother of people of determination” is due to her daily association with them, as she accompanies them and is constantly with them during training And girls are transferred even in the absence of her two daughters, in her own car for training from Sunday to Wednesday every week.

Za`farana is a mother of 7 girls and 4 boys, who has coexisted with the disability of her two daughters, and turned her into an incentive to succeed in their lives.
