The sisters took the boards and went on a tour during a recent vacation in the Turks and Caicos Islands. It was the first time Naomi tested paddleboarding. They would paddle to the next house by the beach but a wave took them far out into the sea.

- Suddenly we were caught by a wave and I began to feel fear and wondered how far we would end up. The water was black and the house disappeared as a point in the distance and I can't swim that well, Osaka tells WTA's website.

It got even worse when Naomi fell off the board and ended up in the water.

"Started thinking about the sharks"

- I started thinking about the sharks in the Caribbean and shouted to my sister: “If I'm going to die, it's your fault. You can tell my mom how I died in the Turks and Caicos Islands, "Osaka says with a laugh. She can now easily laugh at the experience.

However, the call to the sister did not have the expected effect.

- When I could get back on the board she decided to say she saw a shark and then I started screaming and crying. But I'm okay as I'm here. But at that moment, I just thought I didn't want to die that way.

Osaka is third in the tournament in Brisbane after world champion Ashleigh Barty and second Karolina Pliskova.
