Rögle showed no respect for the reigning champions Frölunda but went out hard from the first drop. 10–4 in shots and 1–0 after a distinct finish by Craig Schira up the intersection behind Niklas Rubin became a facet after the first period.

In the second period, Frölunda came out with new force. The shots on and off target spoke their clear language, 23 to 13 for the Gothenburg citizens. And when Rögle drew deportations, the pucks whistled around Rögle's goalkeeper Roman Will.

Ryan Lasch was back in Frölunda's team lineup after more matches' absence and he directed the puck around Rögles box.

First SHL goal

But after an unlucky back play, the puck left the offensive zone. Theodor Lennström got an unhappy cut at his own blue and suddenly Hampus Gustavsson was free with Rubin in the Frölund goal. 2-0 to the guests in numerical disadvantage, in addition Gustavsson's first goal in the SHL career.

When Jacob Petersson was able to sneak in the puck from close range with six minutes left, the game got nerve. Frölunda put everything on a card and pressed on against Rögleburen. But Rögle was able to weather the storm.
