The A-national team is a few days back in the Czech Republic where he follows the junior World Cup with great interest. Not least for his continued work against the World Cup in Switzerland this spring.

Two years ago, three players from the team that took silver in the JVM managed to make it to the big World Cup where there was gold - Lias Andersson, Elias Pettersson and goalkeeper Filip Gustavsson.

Can Samuel Fagemo, six goals so far, make the same trip?

-It's tough to get out of here to play a World Cup, but it's not impossible. Elias Pettersson has shown that. But we have a tournament like the home tournament in Stockholm where Emil Bemström (four JVM goals last year) joined last year and did well. You can start there and see where it takes the road, says Garpenlöv.

"Becomes happy"

For several years, the national team captain has been very involved in getting more goal scorers in Swedish ice hockey. That's why he enjoys Fagemo's progress:

-I like what I see, he wants to score, he gets to the surfaces where you score goals, he thinks shots instead of passes and you see that he is driven by wanting to shoot the puck, says the league captain and continues:

-It's clear that I'm happy when I see players who have that momentum.

"Now it begins"

He does not want to mention more national team names, but says that three to four players in the JVM team are currently interested in the home tournament Beijer Hockey Games in February.

-It's now JVM starting, it's now you want to see who handles the press and plays their best hockey. There are a lot of people in this team who would do well, but if they are to participate, they will add something to win matches, says Garpenlöv, who himself played junior World Cup twice and who won best bronze - precisely in the Czech Republic in 1987.

Garpenlöv is impressed with Sweden's victory over Finland, but also notes that other matches in the group were against easier opposition.

About tonight's quarterfinal against the Czech Republic, he says:

-When you look at the paper and see the team from the other group, it is strong team. I think the quarterfinals are a great opportunity to advance. An opportunity for the guys to experience something big, get to the semi-finals and get to play for the medals.
